No matter how hopeful we are about the future, images of apocalypse, ruin and disaster are proliferating. In Greek mythology, Atë was the daughter of Zeus and a goddess of mischief and delusion. She brought about ruin, blinding all those to their flaws. Now more than ever, it could be argued we enact Atës’ catastrophe. Man has become both the central power and its victim.
