Artbank Staff Profile: Imogen Dixon-Smith

Name: Imogen Dixon-Smith

Job Title: Assistant Curator

What year did you join the Artbank team: 2018

Describe your role and what you enjoy about working for Artbank:

At Artbank, I am involved in the process of bringing new works into the collection through acquisition, the delivery of exhibitions across our gallery spaces, the ongoing interpretation of works in our collection and adding to and improving information about our collection to increase accessibility for Artbank clients and the broader Australian public. The most exciting part of the job is meeting with artists, experiencing inspiring works of art and being in a unique position to offer support that contributes to a thriving cultural sector in Australia. I am proud to contribute to an annual program of acquisitions that aims to capture the diversity, strength and creativity of Australian contemporary art.

Short explanation of your artwork selection:

The Guerrilla Girls are simply the coolest and I join Kate Just as a proud ‘Feminist Fan’. It speaks to my aims here to ensure the representation of female artists working across a variety of subjects and mediums continues to grow in the Artbank collection.
