Daniel Mudie Cunningham

In 2011 Daniel commenced at Artbank as the Senior Curator, moving into his current role at the end of 2014. Previously, he was the Curator at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery & Arts Centre (2007-10) and a Lecturer/Senior Research Associate in Art History, Visual Culture and Design at Western Sydney University (1997-2007). It was here he completed his undergraduate studies in art history in 1997 and his doctorate in cultural studies in 2004.
Daniel has an extensive track record as a freelance curator, having presented exhibitions at institutions, regional galleries and artist-run spaces including recent gigs at Museum of Old and New Art, Carriageworks and Gertrude Contemporary. Also active as an artist, Daniel’s performance video work has been widely exhibited and collected. His art writing and cultural criticism has appeared in numerous print and online publications, including the authoring of several artist monographs.
At Artbank, Daniel works across all teams to manage the development and implementation of curatorial programming and strategic planning, which includes overseeing acquisitions, commissions, exhibitions, and publishing initiatives such as Sturgeon.
